WHAT TO EXPECT
Come as you are to a feast for the senses
When you enter you might notice a wooden table in the middle of the rotunda. Here is where we share communion as a community gathered close together. You also might notice the towering Dancing Saints circling the room.
How We Worship

We believe church comes alive when everyone brings their gifts, so you might find yourself ringing a bell, joining the dance, or sharing a prayer that’s on your heart. Every voice matters here, and every person helps create the beauty of worship.

What to Expect
Whatever makes you comfortable! Most of us come in relaxed Bay Area style—think “coffee with friends” rather than “formal event.”
Just come as you are. You’ll notice people moving, dancing, and singing during worship. Join in whatever feels natural to you.
Absolutely! We’d love to see them on social media, too. We’re on Instagram @saintgregorys_sf
Well-behaved, leashed pups are welcome. If your furry friend tends to be reactive, though, we recommend leaving them cozy at home.
Music + Arts
We love to sing. Our services weave together everything from Renaissance pieces to American Spirituals, Orthodox chants to original compositions by our own community members.
Yes! Our volunteer choir welcomes everyone—no audition needed. We rehearse Thursday evenings and warm up before the 10:30 service.
You’re in good company! The art you see around you was created by our community members. We teach iconography, compose music, choreograph dances, and create in many other ways. Contact us to learn about current projects and classes.
Families + Learning
Children aren’t just welcome—they’re essential! They participate fully in our worship and often help lead it. We offer special programs between services and throughout the year, including:
- Sunday children’s programs during the school year
- Summer Friends of God (FOG) Camp
- Special events like our Christmas pageant and St. Francis Day pet blessing
Feed your mind and spirit through:
- Sunday morning silent/contemplative prayer
- Wednesday noon Bible study (online)
- Special learning series throughout the year

Stick around between services and meet new friends. Bring food to share if you can, enjoy great fellowship, and then we all lend a hand to help clean up.
Contemplative Silent Prayer
Meet in the chapel between services to pray in silence.
Youth and Family Ministry
There are opportunities to learn, play, and share fellowship every Sunday. Meet in the upstairs classroom.

Healing Prayer
Following the Late Service in the chapel.
Fifteen Good Minutes
Following the Late Service in the seating area. A 15-minute conversation where we share what we noticed about the Sunday liturgy, open to all.
Coffee
Stick around after the service for food, coffee, and to meet new friends. Those who can bring food to share and we all lend a hand to help clean up!
Second Sunday Potluck Lunch
On the second Sunday of the month we gather for community and feasting around 12:25 after the 10:30 service. People bring a dish or other goodie to share. New or visiting? Please join us. No need to bring anything.
