Jenny coordinates the liturgical resources at St. Gregory’s, working under the Liturgy and Music Director to prepare the materials that shape worship each Sunday and for the special services of the church year: lectionary readings, hymn selections, parish announcements, and the digital leaflets for those joining us online. She also makes sure preachers, presiders, and deacons have the liturgical and musical resources needed for each service, including both the elements that remain constant across a season and those that change week to week.
Jenny earned a Master of Arts in Liturgical Studies from Yale Divinity School and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music before starting a PhD at UC Berkeley where she is currently writing a dissertation in History. She has been an avid enthusiast of St. Gregory’s ever since being shown the documentary Dancing with God (2000) in a liturgical studies course at the University of Notre Dame. Jenny serves regularly as a deacon at the 10:30 service, introducing the readings, leading the intercessory prayers, and assisting at the eucharist.
What she loves most about St. Gregory’s is the range of what we sing and say, from the ancient Trisagion to the Jewish Sh’ma, Byzantine Troparia, African-American spirituals, and American shape note music, from around the world.
